Bijagua Hydroelectric Plant
This project has two intakes in the Zapote and the Bijagua rivers. The flow is transported by an open channels that join together before entering a tunnel and then to an hourly reservoir. There the penstock starts up to the powerhouse.
The design flow is 14m3/s, the net head is 144.4m and the installed capacity is 17.3 MW.
It is the upstream plant of a cascade development with a total capacity of 35 MW.
CARBON Engineering was hired by Edificadora Beta to carry out the feasibility design, final design and the construction plans of the civil works including the gates. The plant is owned by Coopeguanacaste R.L.
