EL ENCANTO hydroelectric plant
This hydroelectric project owned by Compañía Nacional de Fuerza y Luz (CNFL), has a gross head of 214m and uses water from Aranjuez river. It consists of lateral intake works in a reservoir of 285,000 m3, with a concrete dam with 26 m high ogee spillway. The water is led through a 3400 m long tunnel, then through at low pressure reinforced concrete pipe, ending in a surge tank where the penstock starts. Low pressure conduction is attached to a surge drum where the pressure line starts. The powerhouse has 2 horizontal-axis Francis turbines.
