LAS PAILAS geothermal plant

This is a geothermal project owned Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE ) in a lease with purchase option to Costa Rican Electricity Institute ( ICE ) for 12 years. It is located in the foothills of the southwestern flank of the Rincon de la Vieja volcano. The project has an installed capacity of 35 MW and started operating in July 2011.

CARBON Engineering was hired by Ormat to develop the final design and construction plans for structural civil works . Design of 150m long, 15 m wide cooling towers , pipe supports and foundations , auxiliary equipment, powerhouse and turbo-generators; control building, chemical laboratory and warehouse.
